Who are the Ireland Made Production Team bringing you twice weekly stories of Irish transport past[…]
Ireland Made – stories of Irish transport was founded by myself, Kevin Reid, to celebrate Ireland’s rich transport heritage. Through in-depth videos and well researched articles, and twice-weekly stories from individuals, museums, archives, and companies to preserve our heritage for future generations.
My love for machinery began with my parents’ passion for long-distance motorcycle trips across Ireland and Europe. I started riding pillion on my father’s Jawa 350 and later rode solo on his Suzuki GS850, while my brother Dermot rode pillion with our mother on her Honda CB250 and Yamaha XS400.
Meeting Martina from County Leitrim, now my wife, sparked our shared passion for mechanics. Together, we’ve restored our 1965 Volvo Amazon and repainted our 1979 Land Rover Series III.
In 2018, I launched ‘Leitrim Made’ to showcase local projects like a Kioti tracked tractor, an MZ motorcycle with a trailer, our Series 3 Land Rover respray, and a 1936 Wolseley ‘Wacky Racer’. In 2020, I rebranded as ‘Ireland Made – stories of Irish transport’.
To date I have had credible collaborations with: An Garda Siochána, Commissioners for Irish Lights, Hibra Design, Irish Cement, Irish Defence Forces, Medaza Cycles, Royal Enfield, Ryanair and Waterford Harley Davidson.
And collaborations with Museums & Archives: Capuchin Archives, Cashel Folk Village, Coolakay Agricultural Museum, Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum, Guinness Archives, Glenview Folk Museum, Kilgarvan Motor Museum, Maria Edgeworth Centre, the National Transport Museum, Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, Shannon Aviation Museum and Waterford Civic Trust.
If it has wings, wheels, or floats and there is a connection to Irish transport, you’ll find it here – two new video-stories every week.
Please enjoy our stories.
Best regards
