Cornstown House Vintage Farm Machinery Fingal Co Dublin | Season 3 – Episode 89
Wheels Dec 08, 2023
We are on location at Cornstown House Farm, located on one of the last pieces of agricultural land in County Dublin and just 30 minutes’ drive from the city centre.
The Gryson family farm organically and their large collection of vintage machinery is fully utilised in growing ancient cereals and the production of thatching straw.
Pride of place in the collection is a 1917 Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies Ltd. threshing mill with a very unusual history. There is also a very well preserved 1927 William Foster & Co Ltd, Lincoln threshing mill. A 1970 Dania D1200 is in full working order alongside a 1985 Massey Ferguson 27 (rebadged Dronningbrog D7000) combine harvester.
The Cornstown House collection includes a restored 1982 Toyota BJ40 Land Cruiser. An upcoming restoration is a circa 1964 Fordson Major that, when fully operational, will be paired with the two threshing mills for the production of ancient cereals and thatching straw.
Aside from the machinery collection there is lots more to see at Cornstown House including rare breeds of cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, horses and alpaca trekking around the lovely environs of the farm.
Plan your next visit to Cornstown House, open weekends and by private appointment and you will receive a warm welcome from the Gryson Family.
Our thanks to Dominic and Fionnuala Gryson
