Pilgrims Travelled from across the globe to Dublin 1932 Eucharistic Congress | Season 4 – Episode 75
Floats, Wheels, Wings October 3, 2024
In scenes of mass enthusiasm that would seem out of place in the Ireland of today,[…]
I’m Kevin Reid, and my passion for mechanics inspired me to create the Ireland Made website to celebrate Ireland’s rich transport heritage. Through in-depth videos and well-researched articles, I share stories from individuals, museums, and companies to preserve our transport history for future generations.
My love for machinery began with my parents’ passion for long-distance motorcycle trips across Ireland and Europe. I started riding pillion on my father’s Jawa 350 and later rode solo on his Suzuki GS850, while my brother Dermot rode with our mother on her Honda CB250 and Yamaha XS400.
Meeting Martina from County Leitrim, now my wife, sparked our shared passion for mechanics. Together, we’ve restored our 1965 Volvo Amazon and repainted our 1979 Land Rover Series III.
In 2018, I launched the ‘Leitrim Made’ website to showcase local projects, including a Kioti tracked-tractor, an MZ motorcycle with a trailer, our Land Rover respray, and a 1936 Wolseley ‘Wacky Racer’. During the 2020 lockdown, I rebranded and trademarked as ‘Ireland Made – stories of Irish transport’.
If it has wings, wheels, or floats and is connected to Irish transport, you’ll find it here.
I hope you enjoy our stories.
Best regards
