Support Your Local Transport Museum in 2026 | Season 6 – Episode 33
Floats, Wheels, Wings Apr 07, 2026
Easter marks the reopening of transport museums across Ireland, each one playing a vital role in preserving not just vehicles, but the stories, skills and people behind them. From road and rail to sea and air, these museums safeguard a rich and varied heritage that might otherwise be lost, keeping alive the machines that moved a nation and the memories that give them meaning.
Since 2021, Ireland Made – stories of Irish transport has worked to promote our museums including Arklow Maritime Museum, Cashel Folk Village, Cavan and Leitrim Railway, Clare County Museum, Coolakay Agricultural Heritage Museum, The Curragh Military Museum, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, Foynes Flying Boat Museum, Glenview Folk Museum, Guinness Storehouse, Kilgarvan Motor Museum, National Museum of Ireland, National Transport Museum and Passage West Maritime Museum.
This spring and summer, the responsibility rests with all of us to step through their doors, explore what they have preserved and support their work so that Ireland’s transport heritage continues to be protected for future generations.
You can also explore our museum video collection to see some of the remarkable vehicles that form part of Ireland’s transport story.
